Focus on yourself?

It’s very important to train yourself to do that which is not necessarily comfortable for you to do. That means you cannot keep asking yourself how you feel about “this” or “that.” For example, I love cold calling. I uttered this statement on a CBS radio show and was flooded with phone calls. The callers were eager to learn more about my passion for cold calling.

Some explained that they were so uncomfortable making cold calls that they broke out in a cold sweat. What about YOU?

Understand the Employer’s or Client’s Perspective.

To achieve business or career success, you must understand the other side: the client or the employer. To do that, you need to speak with them. Note that I did not suggest emailing. See my March 1st newsletter: Are you hiding behind the veil of email?

The purpose of the conversation is to figure out whether you and the client or employer are Right Fits for each other. To do that, you must be able to use my Pick, Probe and Pitch Broadcast. Not sure how to do this? Talk to Me!

Remember that the key component of the success mindset is to do what’s necessary to convince the client or employer that you are the Right Fit. Forget about your discomfort and focus on mastering the strategies that will lead to success.

Replace Business or Career Stress With Strategy

Business or career stress? Replace stress with new marketing strategies that work.

Rigidity is the enemy of creativity


I have observed that stress is frequently associated with rigidity. Using the same marketing strategies that are ineffective over a long period of time will reinforce stress. Cast off the cloak of rigidity, and open your mind to new ideas. The rigid mind cannot be creative!

Evaluate your marketing strategies

Whether you are a job seeker or business owner, it’s up to you to evaluate your marketing strategies to determine if they are effective. Figure out how long you’re going to test a specific marketing strategy and what results constitute success. If you’re not achieving the results that you want, decide whether a “small fix” could positively change the results. Not sure? Test your idea. Do not waste a lot of time on marketing strategies that are not working for you. It’s up to you to replace stress with new marketing strategies that work! Not sure how to do this? Let’s talk!

Are you hiding behind
the veil of email?


Email is a communication tool.


I know two professional, award-winning writers who lived a distance away from each other and used email as a tool to build a relationship. After exchanging more than 800 emails, they got married! For them, email was the Right Communication Tool to achieve their objective.

Use email purposely, not routinely.

Some people routinely spend hours a day emailing. If that describes YOU, ask yourself "What am I accomplishing?". Select the communication tool that is the Right Fit Tool to match the task. It is not necessarily email. I believe that many people hide behind the veil of email in order to avoid making telephone calls, especially cold calls. On WIN Without Competing!, Dr. Arlene will talk about the tools of branding individuals and businesses. Many make the erroneous assumption that professionally prepared resumes, bios, and videos present their brand. Not necessarily so.

If you have a business website, do not assume that offering discounts and coupons will display your brand. The 99 Cent Store is the exception, of course.
